Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-tachi No Banka Ost

Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-tachi No Banka Ost

'Shin Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun: Kunio Tachi No Kunio-tachi no Banka' is a game released on the SuperFamicom on April 29, 1994, by Technōs Japan Corporation NoExportForYou for Japan only as a part of the KunioKun series. This game is said to take place between Nekketsu Kōha Kunio Kun (Renegade in the US) and Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari. Now, before you start running, let me say that it’s waaaaaaaaaay cooler. For starters, the plot line is a lot more involved, there’s no doors that take you back to the beginning of the game, and there’s profanities all over the place. Yeah, I thought that would get your attention.

Well, what can I say about this game? Well, for starters, it’s the sequel to classic(!?) NES game, Renegade. Now, before you start running, let me say that it’s waaaaaaaaaay cooler. For starters, the plot line is a lot more involved, there’s no doors that take you back to the beginning of the game, and there’s profanities all over the place.

Yeah, I thought that would get your attention. The game is kind of like West Side Story (or Deuce’s Wild for the uncultured) meets Double Dragon. You play through the game as the “protectors” of two Japanese High Schools – Riki and Kunio (and eventually two other folks), and they’ve been thrown in jail for something they haven’t done. Naturally, you have to break out of your cell, and you of course do this by beating the piss out of everyone that isn’t you. You spend the rest of the game beating the answers to why you’ve been framed out of all the hoodlums you encounter. Add a motorcycle chase towards the end into the equation, and that’s the gist of the game. The game play is straight-forward (it has nothing that hasn’t been done before in the first Double Dragon game), but it’s still fun nonetheless.

Translation Description.

Translation (English) by Aeon Genesis - v1 DescriptionIt´s Kunio. It´s a beatemup. For those who don´t know what I´m talking about, it all started (to my knowledge) with a game called Nekketsu Kouha - Kunio-kun which was released in the States as Renegade. That game´s quite a bit less popular than its cousin which came out here as River City Ransom, also starring Kunio and Riki. This game is the sequel to the original Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun, so don´t expect the RPG elements that RCR had in this.

It´s still quite a fun game, though, and it´s LONG for a beatemup. The story, basically, is that Kunio got in a hit-´n-run accident where he ran a red light and hit a man in a crosswalk, or something. Of course, he didn´t really do it; we learn within the first few minutes of the game that there´s a Kunio lookalike parading around Tokyo, and he´s likely the one who really got into the accident. It´s up to Kunio to clear his name, but he´s stuck in the juvenile detention center! HistorySeptember 20th, 2002 ScreenshotsDownloads.
